Car servicing in Ayr
When you service your vehicle, you’re taking proactive steps to safeguard your car, reducing the chances of breaking down.
Andrew Dodds Autocare in Ayr offers various car service packages tailored to your specific requirements and budget. Our skilled mechanics implement a cost-effective and superior alternative to dealership service. We use only the highest quality parts and equipment. Our services extend to cars and beyond, including vans, electric vehicles, and hybrid vehicles. We also carry out services as per your car manufacturer's instructions. Each make and model has different requirements, so we will look into your car’s servicing recommendations.
We don’t stock bulk oil. Instead, we put the correct oil and grade recommended by the manufacturer into every vehicle, ensuring the best for your car.
Our team carry out a vehicle health check whilst your vehicle is on the ramp - we will report any issues found during the examination.
The three types of services we offer:
Oil Service
During an oil change service, our team will replace the oil filter and change the oil with the oil that is recommended by your vehicle's manufacturer. Whilst your oil is being drained from your vehicle, our team will conduct a vehicle health check.
Interim service
An interim service will consist of an oil filter and oil change, along with either the Air Filter or Pollen Filter change (or both, depending what is recommended by the manufacturer).
Full Service
A full service consists of all filters changed - oil, air, pollen, fuel (unless your vehicle is fitted with an inline fuel filter or a longline fuel filter), spark plugs (petrol), glow plugs (diesel), brake fluid change (if specified by the manufacturer).
How often should you service your car?
We recommend an oil service every 10,000-12,000 miles or every 12 months, an interim and full service can be every 24,000-36,000 miles or every 24-36 months depending on vehicle manufacturer's recommendation. A car service is crucial to keeping your car in the best condition and spotting potential issues before they result in costly repairs.
Many modern vehicles will let you know when a service is due or if there are any faults within the car. If your vehicle notifies you of this, call us to schedule a booking.
If you aren’t sure when your last service was, check your service book, which your most recent mechanic should have updated. You can also call the garage that did your most recent service and ask when the next one is due.
It's important to note that you are considered a high-mileage driver if you drive more than 2,000 miles per month. Therefore, you should book an interim service every six months to check for wear and tear. You should also book in for a full service every year, where we will check more points.
How do I know if my car needs a service?
You should service your car every 12,000 miles or annually. Some cars will indicate when a service is due with a dashboard warning light.
